AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Abilities acquired at the end of the course:

  • knowledge of the main processes and actors involved in the maritime supply chain
  • knowledge of the main technologies adopted in the maritime container terminals and logistic platforms
  • knowledge of the main decision-making issues related to the planning and management of maritime container terminals and logistic platforms
  • knowledge of the main modeling, analysis and planning methods to support decision making process in the field of maritime supply chain

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Students should be able to:

  • describe the processes, actors and technologies involved in the maritime supply chain
  • identify the main problems that arise in the maritime supply chain
  • identify the most suitable methodology to support the decision maker in solving the main problemes that take place in the maritime supply chain

TEACHING METHODS

The course will be offered through lectures, exercises and seminars.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

  • Introduction to transport logistics and the main planning problems of freight transport with particular attention to the maritime context
  • Definition of cargo units and freight consolidation problems
  • Identifications of the main shipping routes and the main national and international seaports
  • Planning problems of maritime container terminals
  • Planning problems of hinterland connections
  • Logistics platforms
