Sociology is the study of social life, social change, and the social causes and consequences of human behavior. This course offers a general introduction to sociology, with the aim to understand and apply key sociological concepts and social theories. By the end of this course, students are expected to: - Know the main concepts of sociology; - Know the main theories of sociology; - Know the different fields of study of sociology; - Know how to apply sociological concepts and theories to the analysis of social reality in different fields; - Know the fundamental characteristics, phases and tools of the main types of social research; - Be able to actively take part in social research by developing tools (questionnaires, interview forms) and to carry out elementary data analysis.
