OVERVIEW

Personal leadership, ability to organize one's workload as well as others' and collaboration among a team, are crucial competencies in modern organizations. Exposing third year students' to these key concepts in order to make them ready to experience them is a sign of the importance given to these topics as they are considered propedeutical to accomplish an affective onboarding process. "Leadership & Teamworking" course aims to explain tools and theories that will lead students towards an enhanced self-knowledge in order to define self-regulation strategies that will bridge them towards organizational behaviors recognized as relavant and effective according to different goals, settings and leadership styles faced onboard or in companies of the maritime industry. Contents related to decision making will also be covered as well as to International conventions, this latter thanks to a guest from the outside world.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Ability to apply task and workload management. Shipboard personnel management. International conventions. Decision making techniques.

TEACHING METHODS

Teaching method will be interactive and engaging also when delivered online in order to create for students a real experiential learning setting. Videos such as TEDs talks and business cases will be used to ingnite class discussion. Exam style questions on key takeaways will open and close each lecture.
