    AIMS AND CONTENT

    AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

    The course has the following objectives:

    - to provide students with the basics of urinary pathologies related to pregnancy and puerperium and which have a high incidence in the female

    - to provide students with a general understanding of the etiopathogenetic, pathophysiological and treatment mechanisms of these pathologies, also introducing issues related to preventive strategies and to possible evolutions and prognostic implications

    - to acquire students: - adequate knowledge of the changes of the urinary tract during pregnancy - adequate knowledge of the main congenital urogenital malformations and neonatal urological syndromes - the ability to recognize and manage the different types of female urinary incontinence and genito-urinary prolapse, - the ability to practice bladder catheterization independently, - the ability to recognize different genitourinary infections and symptoms/signes of urinary stones

    - to develop in the students knowledge on urological complications related to the main gynecological interventions and obstetric practices.

    EXPECTED LEARNING RESULTS:

    At the end of the course, the student will be able to:

    - Know the different types of bladder catheters and ureteral stents and the procedures related to their insertion and removal

    - Distinguish the different types of female urinary incontinence and uro-genital prolapse

    - Plan an adequate preventive and rehabilitative treatment of female urinary incontinence

    - Recognize the typical clinical picture of the main urinary tract infections and stones of the urinary tract 

    - Apply guidelines in case of asymptomatic bacteriuria

    - Critically evaluate the presence of hematuria 

    - Describe the changes of the urinary tract during pregnancy and the main urological complications resulting from obstetric maneuvers
