OVERVIEW

The course aims to analyze the perinatal psychology through theoretical models and intervention in its variations related to the transition to parenthood, to the emotional experience of the actors involved in the birth process, the relational specificity of the care task and some conditions of fragility.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course aims to promote the midwife education in order to manage the main constructs that address the study and intervention in the psychological approach to perinatal phase.

TEACHING METHODS

The course will alternate lectures with working groups. Group activities can be also arranged to promote active learning methodologies

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

The course deals with the theoretical background, methods and tools for the study and research in the field of perinatal psychology. Particularly, we will address the following issues: well-being and perinatal psychology; the relationship in the care tasks and emotions in the delivery room; the transition to parenthood in psychosocial and psychodynamic perspective; give birth and be born away from home.

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The knowledge acquired during the course will be assessed through a written test. Through this procedure, theoretical and methodological knowledge acquired by the student will be assessed.

Students must apply for the exam through the website before taking the test.

 

ASSESSMENT METHODS

Through direct questions in order to investigate the theoretical knowledge and methodologies of intervention in perinatal psychology and/or through the presentation and critical analysis of reference cases will be assessed learning outcomes.
