    OVERVIEW

    The course will provide the main mathematical tools needed to address the next university courses.

    AIMS AND CONTENT

    LEARNING OUTCOMES

    The aim of the course is to provide the basic mathematical tools employed by the other courses delivered by the Department of Economics at the Bachelor level.

    AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

    Teaching will be done by treating the various topics starting from the basic knowledge of new student from schools of different types. This approach is aimed at encouraging learning.

    TEACHING METHODS

    Lectures and exercises.

    SYLLABUS/CONTENT

    Sets, sets of numbers, the concept of function.

    Real functions of a real variable: limits, continuity, derivatives and differentials, the study of functions.

    Real functions of more variables: introduction. - Indefinite integral, definite integral, improper integrals.

    Linear algebra: vectors, matrices, linear systems.

     

    RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY

    Textbooks will be eventually suggested at the beginning of the lessons.

    CALCULUS FOR UNDERGRADUATED STUDENTS. A

    EXAMS

    EXAM DESCRIPTION

    The exam consists in the solution of exercises and theoretical questions.

    The specific exam modalities will be made available on the course aulawe page.

    Student can try the exam in each session (winter, summer, autumn) with just this limitation: if the session is made of three rounds, the student can try the exam in two out of three rounds. 

    Students with DSA certification ("specific learning disabilities"), disability or other special educational needs are advised to contact the teacher at the beginning of the course to agree on teaching and examination methods that, in compliance with the teaching objectives, take account of individual learning arrangements and provide appropriate compensatory tools.

    ASSESSMENT METHODS

    The preparation of the student is assessed by a final examination.
