    AIMS AND CONTENT

    AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

What abilities does a newborn possess? Is it possible to stimulate social skills? Over time in the field of developmental psychology and education, a lot of knowledge has been acquired about how we change and why. The study of this discipline constitutes a fundamental help for those who wish to support the development of the person over a lifetime.

At the end of the course students are requested to

    - know the main approaches to the study of psychological development, the methods of investigation, the changes at the somatic, motor, perceptual, linguistic, cognitive, emotional, social and moral levels that are typically observed during development with particular attention to childhood,  theories formulated to explain the changes in the different domains.

    - use the acquired knowledge to orient oneself in scenarios similar to those in which you will find yourself operating

    - use a specialized language

    TEACHING METHODS

Students will be encouraged to participate actively, and they can choose to do group activities that will be considered as a part of the final exam.

    EXAMS

    EXAM DESCRIPTION

The exam includes a written test and an oral. Only the oral is required of students who attended the lessons (at least 13/18 lessons) and completed the group activities.

The exam can be taken in English (with the same rules) by international students who require it.

Before taking the exam, please contact the professor via email.

    ASSESSMENT METHODS

After this course, useful knowledge must be acquired to describe what skills characterize us in the various life stages (eg such as perceptual abilities of a newborn), how do we change (for example, how do we develop language and communication skills?), and what theories have been formulated with respect to why we change (for example, the different theories concerning the cognitive development). The student should have acquired the ability to use this knowledge to understand a real situation that may be proposed or to envisage how to act in it.

Details are available on the aulaweb page of the course.
