    OVERVIEW

    Vision, an important tool for interaction with external reality, plays a decisive role in the psychomotor development of the child, and a compromise represents a situation of risks for many functions and adaptive skills.

    The course aims to introduce students to the main diseases that may cause low vision in children and young adults.

    AIMS AND CONTENT

    LEARNING OUTCOMES

    Acquire knowledge and the ability to recognize the causes of visual impairments in the age of development and to use the appropriate instrumental techniques depending on the handicap.

    TEACHING METHODS

    The course includes 20 hours of lectures with the use of slides and videos

    SYLLABUS/CONTENT

    Pathology anterior segment of eyelid ptosis, keratoconus, corneal leucoma, iridocyclitis,

    cataracts, glaucoma.

    Pathology posterior segment senile maculopathy, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment,

    retinopathy pigmentosa, retinopathy of the premature

    Pathology of the optic pathologies pathology of the optic nerve, chiasmatic compression, pathology

    retrochiasmatic retrogeniculate pathways.
