    AIMS AND CONTENT

    AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

    Acquire the knowledge and ability to recognize the causes of visual impairments in the age of development and to use the appropriate instrumental techniques according to the handicap.

    TEACHING METHODS

    The course includes 20 hours of lectures with the use of slides and videos

    SYLLABUS/CONTENT

    Hypovision: definition, classification of visual disability: law 3 April 2001 n.138

    Visual ability, visual impairment, visual disability, subjective discomfort, visual discomfort.

    Integration in binocular vision of the main perimetric deficits: scotomatous defects, contraction of the visual field, central scotoma, homonymous and heteronimal hemianopia. Metamorphopsia.

    Pediatric vision quality: central vision deficits and peripheral vision deficits

    The vision of the child suffering from cataracts and the visual problems of the pseudophakic aphak child.

    Role of the orthoptist in the evaluation of the visual function of the partially sighted.

    Test for the evaluation of visual acuity for far and near vision for visually impaired children (Lea Hyvärinen Line Test, L.Hg Symbols Chart, L.H. Gratings, ETDRS, Mn Read)

    NEF funnel and manual or computerized perimetry

    Evaluation of contrast sensitivity (test PV 16, Ishihara Color Vision Test

    Evaluation of the chromatic sense (Hiding Heidi test)
