LEARNING OUTCOMES

The workshop aims to introduce the use of the SPSS package, one of the most popular software for data analysis.After an introduction on the management and organization of data by Excel, it will go to the description of the main features and functionality of SPSS (insert, recoding and display of data, descriptive statistics, contingency tables, correlation, comparison of averages and nonparametric tests, multivariate statistical analysis).

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course aims at developing the ability to design and develop research projects in psychology, to analyze data and correctly interpret the results, and to communicate research findings.

PREREQUISITES

No specific preequirements are needed.
It is advisable to have attended the course Experimental and statistical methods in psychology

TEACHING METHODS

Lectures can be delivered online through the Microsoft Teams platform. 
Students with DSA, disability or other special educational needs are invited to contact the teacher at the beginning of the course to agree on teaching and exam methods which, in compliance with the teaching objectives, take into account the methods of individual learning and provide suitable compensatory tools.

A final exam is not expected .

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The exercises performed during the workshop will constitute evidence of the learning evaluation. Specifically, three exercises will be prepared on the subject topics of lectures that students will have to carry out in small groups. The teacher will evaluate the homework and will provide appropriate guidelines for any correction.
