CODE 80244 ACADEMIC YEAR 2022/2023 CREDITS 6 cfu anno 2 SCIENZE DELLA COMUNICAZIONE 8752 (L-20) - SAVONA LANGUAGE English TEACHING LOCATION SAVONA SEMESTER 2° Semester TEACHING MATERIALS AULAWEB OVERVIEW Classes make up a total of 36 hours, half of which are devoted to strengthening the competence acquired during the previous year. The remaining time is more specifically devoted to the comprehension of video lectures covering topics related to communication strategy, and to the reading of texts. This year's topic is "Seeing is believing... or perhaps not". These additional materials will be made available or linked on AulaWeb. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The target of this module is B2 (Upper Intermediate) competence, as per QCER (Quadro Comune di Riferimento Europeo). ), in accordance with the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). Roughly half of the module will be devoted to a review of grammar and vocabulary. The other half will be devoted to a further exploration of presentation skills, covering a wide range of topics, and to an examination of multimedia communication on a topic which varies from year to year. Materials not covered by textbooks will be made available on AulaWeb. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The core objective is to strengthen the students’ knowledge of the English language, and more specifically to reach the Upper Intermediate level (B2 according to the CEFR, or Common European Reference Framework for Languages). Students are expected to achieve the ability to work in different professional or academic contexts, allowing interaction with native speakers without strain for either party. Through exercises in both aural and written comprehension, the module more specifically aims at stimulating discussion and an ability to express one’s opinions relative to familiar contexts (communication, topical subjects), despite a relatively limited vocabulary. TEACHING METHODS Until the end of the Covid-19 emergency classes will be online. These will be complemented by assignments, which are not mandatory but recommended, especially for students with limited language skills.
