    AIMS AND CONTENT

    AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Acquire knowledge on the correct management of nociceptive and neuropathic pain according to current guidelines with particular regard to the use of opioids according to the WHO pain scale; the student will also have to know the antidotic procedures necessary for the treatment of the overdose of the opioids themselves. Know the use of some classes of drugs that are used in the treatment of acute and chronic asthma with particular regard to appropriateness, clinical use, evaluation of adverse reactions. A further objective is to be able to assess the need for emergency treatment of anaphylactic shock through the use of adrenaline, of which the student must adequately know the doses and methods of administration. Know the main drugs used in the different forms of shock (cardiogenic, hypovolemic, septic). Possess the basic notions of active drugs on the CNS, with particular regard to the use of Benzodiazepines and the drugs used for the treatment of epileptic disease. Adequate knowledge of the antidotic procedures applied in case of intoxication by drugs, food or substances of abuse is required. Finally, the course aims to know the basic principles of Pharmacovigilance with particular regard to the definition of adverse drug reaction (ADR) and how to report suspected ADRs to the National Pharmacovigilance Service.

    EXAMS

    EXAM DESCRIPTION

The exam for the Toxicology part takes place exclusively in written form. The proof, which is an integral part of the C.I. of Nursing in the Critical Area, includes 10 multiple choice questions. The student must correctly answer 6 multiple choice questions without penalty for not given or wrong answers. Passing the Toxicology test completes the exam of the integrated course. The grade is unique and, taking into account the seriousness of the errors made in the various parts of the exam, the final result is agreed between the teachers involved in the integrated course.

    ASSESSMENT METHODS

The verification of the correct understanding of the topics covered takes place during the written exam with a series of written questions that contain a range of 5 answers, only one of which is correct; the questions are modified at each exam session, they are formulated in different versions between students who occupy contiguous positions in the classroom. Pure mnemonicity and copying of answers is therefore discouraged, while the ability to actively apply the knowledge acquired during the course through reasoning and synthesis is valued.
