The course provides the students with advanced knowledge of English managerial, economic and financial terminology commonly employed in professinal activities, technical reports and research papers.
Students who have finished this course should be able to work more fluidly in an Enlish-language office envronment in terms of their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.
The course is based on in-person communication, which is why attendance, while not manditory is STRONGLY ENCOURAGED for any student wishing to successfully work in an English-language environment.
The course is not tradtional, in that new grammar points, new usages and new topics of discussion will be introduced communicatively, with a lot of student participation expected, in an open workshop environment.
We will focus on: Networking and building relationships with a focus on working across cultures, Team building, Raising finance and financial terms, the right register for various forms of spoken and written communication.
Students will listen to finance- and business-related podcasts as part of their homework. In the II Semester, groups of students will prepare and give an oral presentation about one of the podcasts they have heard.
