The Course is designed to provide students a solid knowledge about Unit Operations through the analysis of process for Wastewater Treatments.
Criteria for understanding physical, chemical and biological phenomena involved in Wastewater treatments plants will be provided. Besides, criteria for sizinz and manage each Unit Operation will be discussed.
Attendance and active participation in the proposed educational activities (lectures, group discussions during lessons, numerical exercises) and individual study will enable the student to have the ability to understanding of the phenomena and mechanisms governing the operation of the equipment used. to approach the problem of their sizing provide for the logical and coherent development of the equipment for their succession within a complete plant critically interpret the working hypotheses
The module includes classroom lectures. the teaching activity is integrated with numerical exercises applied to the concepts developed in class that the student must perform independently under the guidance of the teacher. During the lectures, the students are stimulated and involved in individual or collective discussions on the various topics addressed in the teaching to foster communication skills and interact more profitably with the teacher and assess the learning status.
Therefore, already during the course the students are involved both individually and in groups for the examination of the problems in order to verify the acquisition of the various topics addressed, through a direct comparison with colleagues and the teacher .
wastewater characterization; preliminary and primary treatment (collection; screening, grit removal, equalizaion sedimentation); Secondary treatment (Fundamental of biological process, activated Sludge process, MBR reactor etc.); Tertiary treatment; Solid Handling (sludge thickening, stabilizaton, dewatering)

The final test of the course consists of an oral discussion of the topics covered in class. The grade obtained in the teaching will be the average of the marks given in the two modules in which the teaching is divided The mark obtained in teaching will be the average of the marks awarded in the two modules in which the teaching is divided. Please refer to the consultation of the individual modules for details.
In the exam, during the oral discussion, the correct acquisition of the training objectives is evaluated, through a discussion that highlights the ability to reason about the functionality of the various equipment and their insertion in the context of a complete system, also detecting the critical points and the problems.
