The two modules are complementary and interfacing on the various topics covered. Objective of the course is to provide logic and methodology of approach to intervention projects at the urban scale that takes into account the current needs of the city in accordance with the feasibility and sustainability criteria. The course also intends to create a critical sensitivity for the planning of interventions on the territory. At the end of the course, the student will be able to: - Analyzing urban plans, from ordinary planning to sector tools; - Evaluate the priority issues at the urban level (mobility, resilience, ...) in relation to the existing tools of urban planning technique; - Develop the documents (reports and maps) of an urban project. PREREQUISITES Being a master's course in the construction-architecture area, the student must have acquired, during the three-year course, the basic knowledge relating to urban planning technique. This knowledge is assumed to be acquired and constitutes the necessary foundations for understanding the topics of the course and taking the exams. TEACHING METHODS The course includes 60 hours of lectures and 60 hours of practical laboratory. The part of lectures is preparatory to the laboratory with the aim of providing the requirements for the development of the urban project. The lectures are supplemented by application exercises. The students, divided into groups of two or three, with the support of the teachers, will have to apply the acquired knowledge and at the end they will have to present a report with the results obtained from the research activity. The organization and the dates of the exercises will be communicated directly by the teachers at the beginning of the lessons. The Laboratory consists in the development of an urban planning project on the agreed theme, referring to parts of cities with specific vocations. The students, divided into groups of two or three, and with the support of the teachers, will have to create a book in A3 format and two A1 graphic project (the first relating to the state of art of case study, the second relating to the analysis and project phases). At the end of the workshop, students will have to submit the prepared project documents. The organization and dates of the laboratory activities will be communicated directly by the teachers at the beginning of the lessons. SYLLABUS/CONTENT The course program includes the presentation and discussion of the following topics: - In-depth study of urban plans: PRG - General Town Plan, PTC - Provincial coordination plan and PTM - Metropolitan plan, PTR - Regional Territorial Plan. Differences in the different Italian regions -In-depth analysis of Ministerial Decree 1444/68 and urban planning indexes and standards. -In-depth study of the implementation plans PP, PZ, PIP, PR. and PPA Multiannual Implementation Programs - the building permit -From the concept of recovery to the concepts of redevelopment and regeneration. -The complex programs at national level: PI, PRU, PRIU and PRUSST. Complex programs at the regional level: The POI in the Liguria region. Examples. -The sector plans. Soil defense and basin planning. Examples of basin plans at national level. The concept of natural risk and basin planning in Liguria. Examples at the Ligurian level. - The Environmental Code (Legislative Decree 152/2006). " -The Landscape Plan and landscape protection. The Code of Cultural Heritage and Landscape (DL 42/2004). Examples at national level and in Liguria. The Park Plan and naturalistic protection. Examples at national level and in Liguria. -Environmental, social and economic sustainability. The main tools of sustainability: Agenda 21, best practices and indicators. -Mobility and transport. References at European, national and regional level. -Sustainable mobility: main steps, SUMP, tools and best practices -Soft mobility in sustainable mobility. Cycling in Europe and Italy. Virtuous experiences -Sustainable waste management. Main tools, plans and best practices -Urban regeneration. Virtuous experiences -The role and functions of greenery. Virtuous experiences -The importance of participation. In line with the lectures, the Laboratory constitutes the application phase of the methodological approach for the development of urban projects that take into account the current needs of the city in compliance with the feasibility and sustainability criteria. EXAMS EXAM DESCRIPTION The course includes an oral test. The exercises and the laboratory carried out during the course are evaluated during the oral exam and contribute to the final grade of the exam. There will be 3 exam sessions for the winter session (January-February-March) and 4 exam sessions for the summer session (June, July and September). During the lesson period, extraordinary sessions for students outside the course can be agreed with the teachers. ASSESSMENT METHODS The main purpose of the exam is to evaluate the students' ability to develop a methodology of approach to urban-scale projects that takes into account the current needs of the city in compliance with feasibility and sustainability criteria. The oral exam will mainly focus on the topics covered during the lectures and will have the purpose of assessing not only if the student has reached an adequate level of knowledge, but if the student has acquired the ability to analyze urban plans and evaluate priority issues at urban in relation to the current tools of the urban planning technique. The ability to describe exam topics clearly and with appropriate terminology will also be assessed.
