CODE 108769 ACADEMIC YEAR 2022/2023 CREDITS 12 cfu anno 1 INGEGNERIA GESTIONALE 8734 (LM-31) - GENOVA SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINARY SECTOR ING-IND/35 TEACHING LOCATION GENOVA SEMESTER 2° Semester TEACHING MATERIALS AULAWEB OVERVIEW The course is based on the following learning path: from the critical analysis of the current dynamics of innovation to the understanding of the opportunities for technological innovation and emerging research, passing through the management and optimization of the organizational processes aiming not only at generating economic value, but also at providing a positive impact on society and the environment. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The course goal is twofold. The first is to provide the student with the theoretical and methodological tools to understand the economic principles underlying the organizational decisions concerning innovation investments and their impact on the related markets. The second is to provide the student with the strategic and managerial knowledge leading technological innovation processes and ecosystems. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES Once completed the course, the student will be able to: apply the knowledge learned to the analysis of investment decisions in R&D and innovation; understand the functioning mechanisms of markets characterized by network externalities and intangible assets; formulate evaluation judgments on the effects of the leading public intervention policies in the above markets; coordinate knowledge and related methodologies to oversee the logic of innovation processes within the Innovation Ecosystem (IE); apply the skills developed aiming to lead the dynamics of the product and service innovation, process innovation, and corporate business models innovation; demonstrate know-how, according to the needs of the innovation challenges, managing innovation projects and the intellectual property rights (IPR) protection; evaluate the innovation models within IEs and the related financial implications arising from Capital Markets; assess how to deal with the new markets and the emerging growth opportunities of large enterprises and start-ups through the creative-destruction, non-destructive creation, and disruptive change approaches. TEACHING METHODS The lessons are based on the presentation and explanation of the course contents, and on the following discussion of specific case-studies aiming at applying the contents within business contexts. SYLLABUS/CONTENT The content is divided into the following four parts: Building a shared language of innovation; Innovation and its challenges; Engaging with corporate stakeholders in innovation ecosystems; Leading innovation in an innovation ecosystem framework.
