The Course of Energy Management will provide students the necessary background to analyze with an holistic approach systems for energy conversion and utilization. Specific attention will be dedicated to the study of energy markets (specifically power, natural gas and carbon markets), to the development of long term energy planning models and to the analysis of thermo-economics problems.
The module aims at providing the following LOs:
- Basics of thermoeconomics
- Techniques for the study and analysis of energy demand
- Methodologies for the modelling of large scale thermal systems
- Fundamentals of energy market
The Course of Energy Management will provide to the students an holistic approach for a correct planning and management of energy infrastructures. To this aim the following macro-topics will be addressed:
•Fundamentals of energy markets (power, gas and CO2)
•Techniques for the decomposition of energy consumption
•Methodologies for energy demand forecasting
•Development of complex thermo-economics models
•Development of energy planning models
Calculation software (e.g. MsExcel, Matlab, etc.) will be employed for the development of quantitative analysis
The course will be based on a practical approach by means of the analysis of real world case studies introduced by the lecturer and, possibly, by external guests from foreign universities and from industry.
On the successfull completion of the course, the student will be able to:
Bachelor level knowledge of thermodynamics and heat transfer
Frontal lectures and practical exercises with support of calculation software (e.g. Excel, Matlab, etc.)
The course will be delivered in on-line modality for the I Semester of the 2020/2021 Accademic Year.
