The course has the main aim to provide students theoretical and methodological instruments to deeply undertand political parties and their behaviours within the electoral, parliamentary and executive arenas and at internazional level.
A second topic will focus on the electoral competition in order to provide students with analytical tools able to grasp political strategies adopted by political parties and the reasons behind voters' choices.
The course illustrates the origin and development of political parties and thei perfomance in all arenas where they operate. A special attention is devoted to the legitimacy of political parties in the contemporary democracies in relation to relevant political issues as populism and technocracy.
By attending the course, students will:
