The course provides basic knowledge about real numbers, the concepts of limit, continuity and derivability for real functions of one real variable. The student is able to apply this knowledge to the solution of simple practical problems in the pure and applied sciences
The student acquires the technical language necessary to correctly express the theoretical results presented in class.
The student is able to prove simple statements and provide counterexamples, and can perform calculations of limits and derivatives.

Written and oral examination
The written examination ascertains the student's ability to solve simple exercises relating to the calculation of limits and derivatives, the application of theoretical results to the study of properties of real functions of real variables.
The oral examination ascertains that the student has filled any gaps in the written examination and that he/she can express him/herself correctly using elementary logic and the technical language learnt.
