OVERVIEW

The unit is aimed at consolidating and strengthening students’ English skills at a level equivalent to B1+ of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Acquisition of the basics of the language in order to communicate in everyday situations and understand the general meaning of written and oral messages.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Students shall demonstrate the ability: to understand the key points of familiar subjects regarding school, leisure etc.; to interact with a mother tongue speaker; to produce a simple text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest; to critically and independently use the skills acquired, in different fields of application.

PREREQUISITES

Students are invited to revise the basics of English grammar since these points will not be dealt with in any depth during lessons.

TEACHING METHODS

The unit is taught in the classroom.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

The unit consists of 36 hours of lessons conducted interactively using activities in the course book (see below) and other sources. It is stressed that, also on account of the likely wide range in students’ starting levels, the teaching hours will need to be supplemented by hours of individual study.

To this end, particularly those who start from a low level of English are warmly invited to attend the laboratory in 1st semester; for further details see the corresponding description for Laboratorio di lingua inglese (90196).

Specific measures will be available for people with special needs (SEN students, worker students who don’t attend lessons, etc.). For further information, email the teacher at justinrosenberg@libero.it

The unit contributes to achieving the following UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goal:

Goal 4 - Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
