OVERVIEW
The course will develop a critical approach to contemporary migrations and will provide a general knowledge about main literature on the topic.
AIMS AND CONTENT
LEARNING OUTCOMES
The course aims to develop a critical approach to the study of contemporary migrations by promoting knowledge of the main research literature on the subject
AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES
- to develop a critical knowledge on contemporary migrations
- to analyse relationship between policies and migrations
- to realize micro-research experiences and observations on migrations
- to explore borders as battlegrounds
TEACHING METHODS
The course opts for a teaching method focussed on participation, direct experience, knowledge co-production
The course will use films and images produced by the Laboratory for Visual Sociology.
SYLLABUS/CONTENT
The course will develop the following subjects:
a) causes and effects of migration; b) migration and labour market; c) gender and migration; e) migration, citizenship and social movements.
A specific attention will be devoted to borders, migrations and solidarity's practices.
