Module of Social Psychology: Fundamentals of Social Psychology
The course examines the main sociocultural, affective and cognitive processes involved in social behaviors, considering issues such as the construction of social knowledge, the concept of self, the mechanisms of social influence, interpersonal dynamics, the influence of environment on individual and collective behaviour.
At the end of the course, the student must be able to: - define the key constructs of the discipline; - link the learned constructs together; - identify the main reference theories of the discipline; - identify the main methods and intervention tools of the discipline; - to link theoretical knowledge to real contexts.
The Course contributes to the achievement of Goal 4 of the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN 2030 Agenda
The course is based on lectures, supplemented by exercises in small groups.
Students with SLD, disabilities or other certifications of special educational needs are invited to contact the lecturer at the beginning of the course in order to agree on teaching methods that, while respecting the teaching objectives, take into account individual learning methods and provide appropriate compensatory tools.
The Course explores the following topics:
Origin, evolution and fields of study of social psychology; construction of social knowledge; process of social categorization; stereotypes and prejudices; attitudes; concept of Self; social influence; aggressive and altruistic behaviours; membership and social exclusion.

The examination consists of a written test.
By agreement with the lecturer, an oral examination is possible.
The test is structured by means of open questions requiring the student to briefly expound on the fundamental concepts inherent to the course. The assessment of the written test is based on criteria of relevance and completeness of the answers.
