OVERVIEW

The course includes 10 hours of lessons related to topics of internal medicine and first aid. The aim is to allow students of the undergraduate degree in speech therapy to know the pathologies they may encounter in the patients they will follow during their future work.

AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The aim of the course is to provide students with the basics in the field of internal medicine with particular regard to metabolic diseases (such as diabetes), cardiovascular, respiratory, articular, and immune-mediated diseases. The acquisition of knowledge in the field of allergic reactions is fundamental in the cultural growth of future speech therapists.

At the end of the course, the student will be able to recognize the symptoms and / or signs of the most common pathologies of international interest and to critically evaluate the involvement of other health professionals (doctors, physiotherapists, etc.) in order to plan a diagnostic procedure - therapeutic appropriate to the individual case. The aim of the course is to allow the students of the degree course in speech therapy to know pathologies that may be encountered in the patients who will follow in the course of their future work. The extension of internal knowledge will allow future speech therapists to plan a more appropriate pathology path to the individual case.

The program provides lessons on:

Syncope, fever, arthralgia, atopy, heart failure, pleural effusion, dyspnoea, chest pain, diabetes mellitus, arterial hypertension

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The student must demonstrate that he / she has understood the etiopathogenetic bases and the diagnostic / therapeutic procedure of the described pathologies. The oral examination allows to evaluate the basic knowledge of the student of the various diseases described
