AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Approach and behavior to maintain with the patient suffering from psychiatric diagnosis

Learning of the theoretical notions related to the following mental and mental functions:

1. The diagnosis in Psychiatry (fundamental and confirmation criteria)

2. Transversal diagnosis (episode) and longitudinal (disorder)

3. Psychiatric Objective Examination and related psychic functions

4. Theoretical and methodological foundations of Psychiatry.

5. Elements of Psychiatric Semeiotics

TEACHING METHODS

Frontal lessons with slides. Verifications of learning in itinere with interactive clinical cases. During the lesson hours the learning of the topics covered is regularly evaluated, with interactive checks on the learner-teacher in order to carry out the indispensable in-depth studies for the acquisition of knowledge.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

1. Theoretical and methodological foundations of Psychiatry.

2. Elements of diagnostics and classification nosography of mental disorders.

3. Diagnosis in psychiatry: fundamental criteria and confirmation criteria.

4. Diagnosis in psychiatry: difference between cross-sectional diagnosis and long-term diagnosis.

5. Elements of Psychiatric Semeiotics: assessment of psychic functions including consciousness, alertness, motor behavior, cognitive functions, sense-perception, thought, affectivity, appetite, suicide, sleep, illness awareness

NOTES PREPARED BY THE PROFESSOR

The teacher  will provide the students for the study of the subjectwith indications for the completion of their preparation on psychiatry manuals. Students will also be provided with a series of brief notes on some fundamental notions of nosology, psychiatric nosography and psychopathological diagnosis, of semiotics.

EXAM DESCRIPTION

Oral examination. The score will be given out of thirty.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

In addition to the evaluation of the learning of the knowledge and the exposure of the contents in the oral exam, there will be assessments in progress through interactive clinical examples.
