OVERVIEW

This teaching is part of the integrated course on psychosocial interventions

AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The broad aim of this teaching course is allowing students to acquire the main body of professional social service notions and its integration with health care systems. The teacher will start from clinical cases examples and through the use of power point presentations will explore several topics such as socio-sanitary integration history and law, welfare state, the help process in its phases and the body of instruments available to social interventions. This will apply to the fields of Social Service, Medicine and Social or Center Psychiatry . The teacher will also touch the topic of official nosography systems in psychiatry (DSM) and how this is intertwined with a changing clinical and social reality.

At the end of the teaching, the student will be able: to know the main body of professional social service notions; to apply the fields of Social service, to distinguish the different application fields in the Social Service; to project a network work; to explain a changing clinical and social reality

TEACHING METHODS

Frontal lectures about the main course and exam topics through the use of microsoft power point 

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

First part: history overview and welfare state

  • History overview : the past, in Italy
  • Welfare: definition, aims, instruments, consequences
  • Reform laws

Second part: help process, method and interventional instruments

  • Phases, method and help process steps
  • Instruments: interviews, home visits, équipe-based daily work, web-based work
  • Features of social-health care integration

Third part: Need/Question and field of action

  • What is needed
  • From perceiving a need to asking for help
  • The inquire
  • The Maslow Theory
  • The field of action: poverty (distinction, how to provide interventions)

Fourth part: evaluation and instruments into two fields of actions:

  • Disability: INTERDIZIONE (process, request, the choice of the tutor, legal state of the interdetto, acts, suspension); INABILITAZIONE (what is it, who can benefit, duties of the curatore, legal state of the inabilitato)
  • Appendices: AMMINISTRAZIONE DI SOSTEGNO, Giudice Tutelare
  • Parenthood: AFFIDO (features, who can ask for it, subtypes), ADOZIONE (features, who can ask for it, the path,adaptability ,dereliction/abandonment state)

Indepth topics: 1. Social services mandates 2. Laws for professionals AS , 3. Specific intervetions methodology in 33 points 4. Socio-sanitary integration

EXAM DESCRIPTION

Direct oral interview. The student will have to answer to three question concerning the contents of the topics explored during frontal lectures.
