OVERVIEW

Presentation and description of national and regional legislation on the organization of socio-sanitary services, with particular reference to mental health, dependencies, and penitentiary medicine.

AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

  1. Basic concepts on the general mechanisms of cultural processes as a historical-cultural interpretative key to the historical evolution of assistance, care and rehabilitation and the concepts of normality, health, disease, activity and activity versus disability limitation, attendance and limitation of attendance versus handicap.
  2. Know the history, the current developments in the organization of psychiatric services.
  3. Know the organization of socio-sanitary services with particular reference to psychiatric services, their organizational articulation, mission and legislative framework.
  4. Organization of the Departments of Mental Health and Addictions and Individual Psychiatric Operative Units, identifying: institutional purposes, field of intervention, roles and skills of the professional figures, links and interactions with other public and private services.
  5. Autonomy of judgment: analyze the directives and operative practices of the services to decide on the appropriate interventions that take into account the legal, political, geographical, economic, ethical and social influences.

Acquire the ability to communicate and properly present their scientific and cultural knowledge and to relate to the professional environment, using the most appropriate exposition methodology.

TEACHING METHODS

  1. Frontal lessons with moments of confrontation and discussion.
  2. Read and comment on national and regional laws and norms.
  3. Five lessons of two hours.

4. Agreement of 13/11/2014 between the Government, the Regions and the Autonomous Provinces of Trento and Bolzano and Local Autonomies on the document “Definition of the care paths to be activated in the mental health departments for schizophrenic disorders, mood disorders and serious personality disorders”

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

Oral examination, consisting of two / three questions. The evaluation is global.

The final vote, being an integrated course, is given by the average of the weighted votes given by the various teachers.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The exam allows to verify the achievement of the expected learning outcomes: knowledge of proposed theoretical contents, ability to apply the acquired knowledge, exposition skills.
