The methods of examination are different depending on whether they take place in person or remotely, in accordance with the provisions of the University. In the case of face-to-face examinations: the written exam consists of four exercises: two mechanics exercises + a thermodynamic exercise + an electromagnetism exercise. The maximum time available is four hours. In the case of remote exams: the written test consists of a multiple choice quiz usually made up of 15 questions for each module accessible through the dedicated Aulaweb platform. Students will be informed through Aulaweb on the alternative methods adopted and on the detailed methods of implementation. - PARTIAL TESTS: At the end of the first semester and at the end of the second, a partial test will be carried out on the corresponding part of the program. These tests (if passed, see below) allow admission to the oral exam. ADMISSION TO THE ORAL EXAM Students are admitted to the oral exam with an overall grade of the written test greater than or equal to 15/30 and with neither part less than 12/30. The candidate can choose to repeat the writing if not satisfied with the result. On the occasion of the exam sessions, the student can also repeat only any of the two parts, delivering after two hours instead of four hours from the start of the exam. In any case, the delivery of the last test taken (whether partial or total) cancels the previous corresponding results. The written tests - total or partial - will be valid for admission to the oral tests up to the corresponding exam session of the following academic year inclusive. For example, a partial written exam passed with a grade greater than 12/30 in the summer session of the academic year 2019/20 can be used to average with another partial written exam subsequently taken until the summer session of the academic year 2020. / 21 included; another example: a written exam passed in the 2019/2020 winter session will allow admission to the exam up to and including the 2020/21 winter session. The partial tests ("homework") of both modules are both understood to be taken in the summer session of the corresponding academic year - for example, a "homework" successfully completed at the end of the mechanics module of the academic year 2019/20 will be valid until the summer session of the academic year 2020/21 included. " The oral exam is passed in case of evaluation equal to or higher than 18/30. In determining the final grade, the written test has a weight equal to 50% in the case of a written exam carried out in person and 25% in the case of a written exam carried out remotely. The exam is passed if the oral exam is passed and the overall score is greater than or equal to 18/30. If the student does not pass the exam once the oral test has been taken, she must repeat the written test in its entirety. During the written test the use of any text is not allowed. The form will be available, which can also be downloaded from the web classroom. The oral dates for each session will be communicated during the written test, and the results of the written tests will be announced on aulaweb. Orals will be held upon reservation on aulaweb, in the absence of which it will be necessary to make an appointment with the teachers. ASSESSMENT METHODS Method of assessment The written test verifies the degree of learning by verifying the ability to solve exercises on the different parts of the program (mechanics, thermodynamics and electromagnetism). As a rule, the exercises in mechanics and electromagnetism are common to most of the General Physics courses of the Polytechnic School. The oral exam verifies the degree of knowledge and understanding of the topics covered by the program, the ability to clearly and precisely present the knowledge acquired and the ability to apply this knowledge to problem solving. The ability to model a real problem and the awareness of the approximations possibly involved is appreciated when determining the final grade.
