TEACHING MATERIALS AULAWEB

OVERVIEW

The course provides an overview of healthcare simulation, and how new technologies that can improve medical training. The materials include an introduction on the theories supporting medical training, followed by a part on simulation metodologies. Also, it will be analyzed how disruptive technologies can be used for medical training and assessment. In addition, an analysis of the commercially available devices will be provided.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Distinguish between different techniques and technologies used in healthcare simulation
  • Define the criticism of medical simulation and propose solution to enhance medical training and assessment
  • Analyze commercially available simulators, as well as research prototypes to identify advantages and limitations
  • Design and select tools for medical and surgical training
  • Understand how a medical simulation is organized and how it works

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

Written and oral exams

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The written test will assess the acquisition of theoretical knowledge (e.g. simulation types and methods; technologies for healthcare simulation; existing solutions)

The oral part will cover lectures, seminars, and groups activity with the goal of evaluating if the students reach a sufficient knowledge level and if they can critically analyze problems related to medical training and assessment, also providing solutions
