OVERVIEW

The first part of the course provides the basic elements of cultural anthropology. In the second part, some aspects relating to artistic processes will be explored, from an anthropological point of view. Different concepts of "art" and "cultural heritage" and examples of "translation" of objects and events produced in different societies will be examined.

Within the course, a specific focus will be dedicated to Oceanian objects in museums. In the analysis of the museumization process, particular attention will be given to the point of view of the communities from which these objects come: if in some cases they have made requests for the return of the human remains of their ancestors, in others they have developed avant-garde shared heritage projects.
