Italian linguistics deals with the structures of language, uses and functions of the language, with reference to the model of geographical, social, situational and communicative varieties. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The aim of the course is the scientific study of the Italian language, mainly but not only contemporary, in its geographical, social and situational varieties, with reference to the structures, functions and linguistic uses. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES At the end of the course, the student will be able to: - describe the architecture of the varieties of contemporary Italian - identify and recognise the distinctive features of each variety of Italian - analyse written and oral productions in Italian from a variational perspective - adapt their communication to the context, improving their functional alphabetic competence - recognise the characteristics of the language of the media PREREQUISITES None TEACHING METHODS First semester: Frontal lessons (36 hours). The course is annual and comprises lessons in the first and second semester. The lessons of Italian Linguistics (9 CFU) in the first semester coincide with those of Italian Linguistics B (6 CFU) and begin in the first week of October 2023. Classes for the second semester begin on February 2024. Class schedule ITALIAN LINGUISTICS EXAMS EXAM DESCRIPTION Multiple choice test (if it's possible). Oral examination. The course is annual. The first exam session of the course will take place in June 2024. At the end of the first semester, students can take an intermediate test (multiple choice test) on the topics of the first part of the course. Thus, in the summer exams, students complete the examination by preparing only the part relating to the second semester. ASSESSMENT METHODS I semester: multiple choice test. II semester: oral examination Those who do not take the test at the end of the first semester will take the exam orally in the scheduled appointments starting in June 2024, taking the entire course programme. Those who take the intermediate test at the end of the first semester will complete the examination orally from June 2024, taking only the course syllabus for the second semester. EUROPEAN MOBILITY students can take the Italian Linguistics (9 CFU) exam only if they have "Linguistica italiana" (Italian Linguistics, Linguistique italienne, Italienische Sprachwissenschaft) in their Learning Agreement and if they stay in Italy for two semesters: the course is annual. Students with special educational needs, disabilities and SLDs are invited to contact the professor at the beginning of the course to agree on teaching and examination methods that, while respecting the teaching objectives, take into account individual learning methods and provide suitable compensatory tools.
