AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES This course aims to introduce the knowledge of the history of Latin American ideas of the first decades of the twentieth century. Significant cultural texts of the period will be analyzed which will allow us to interpret the dialectic between discussions, concepts, ideas and history. There will be a particular emphasis on grasping a working knowledge of the topic and its representation of: processes of institutionalization, theoretical-conceptual processes, producing texts AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The history of Latin American ideas, at the beginning of the 20th century, is characterized by an overcoming Positivism. It will not be a definitive overcoming because the influence of positivist philosophy will continue to determine this story until the 1930’s…During this course particular attention will be on analyzing two important essays of the period: Ariel, di José Enrique Rodó e Siete ensayos de interpretación de la realidad peruana, di José Carlos Mariátegui, The students will have to acquire knowledge of the cultural history of the period studied necessary for: an analysis of types of Hispanic-American identity; achieve a theoretical method of analysis of the discussion that makes it possible to connect the social resources, symbolic content, and the forms of enunciation; examine the ideological representations present in the body of the proposed texts through the configuration of themes, concepts and argumentative scenarios; analyze the contexts in which knowledge is produced and the ways in which it is represented; understand the significance and importance of the period’s culture starting from a contemporary perspective; identify significant moments in the cultural history of the period; promote critical and argumentative reading on the themes and problems of the period’s culture observe the style of writing of the proposed texts PREREQUISITES None TEACHING METHODS 54 lecture hours. The first 36 hours that correspond to 6 CFU will take place in the 1st semester. The last 18 hours, borrowed from Hispano-American Literature and Culture II (code 68281), will take place in the 2nd semester.
