Portuguese for special purpose, special focus on tourism and business. The course is aimed at third year students of Modern Languages and Cultures, Languages for Business and Tourism curriculum, and, in addition to aiming at the consolidation of the linguistic skills acquired in the first two years, it aims at an approach to the characteristics of the sectoral languages relating to the fields of tourism and business of the Portuguese language.
The course will focus on linguistic competences and translation skills for portuguese special purpose texts. The course aims to provide students with the necessary tools, through reading and translation of specialized magazines and books, to access the administrative, business and tourism sector language in Portuguese. The most significant variations between the language used in Portugal and Brazil will be highlighted.
At the end of the course, students must be able to use the vocabulary and specific morphosyntactic structures of sectoral texts in Portuguese, with particular reference to business communication and the tourism sector.
Portuguese language level B1/B2. Knowledge of the Portuguese language learned in the first two years.
Theorical and practical lessons. Lectures, exercises and ongoing tests.
Theoretical introduction to sectoral languages.

The course will take place on Thursday from 13:00 to 14:00 in Room H and on Fridays from 15:00 to 17:00 in Room I of the POLO DIDATTICO.

PORTUGUESE FOR SPECIAL PURPOSES
Oral exam at the end of the course. The exam will be carried out orally and consists of an interview in Portuguese, lasting about 25 minutes. The oral examination will focus on the contents of the course; the candidate will be asked at least two questions for each of the topics, selected by the Commission. Furthermore, for attending students, the tests and work carried out in itinere will also form part of the final assessment. Non-attending students are requested to contact the teacher to agree on the extension of the study materials and / or some alternative written activities, which must be delivered before the oral exam. Non-attending students are invited to contact the teacher well in advance of the exam dates.
Oral exam and written activitities during lessons. The achievement of the pre-established learning outcomes will be assessed by verifying, in addition to the skills acquired in the sectoral languages relating to the business and tourism sectors, the correct use of the specialized vocabulary and a satisfactory level of quality in the relative exposure. Checks and ongoing activities: letters, commercial e-mails, curricula, translations from portuguese to italian and vice versa of sectoral texts, preparation and presentation of projects in the commercial and tourism fields.
