AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course aims to give students the basic knowledge and skills for the collection of primary and secondary data, their organisation and, where necessary, their transformation for data visualisation purposes, as a support to the development of analyses and reports on business data.

PREREQUISITES

Passing the examination in IT knowledge and skills (course code 60031).

TEACHING METHODS

Teaching will take place in the IT classroom at the Department of Economics through face-to-face lectures and practical exercises to be carried out individually and/or in teams.

The course may be attended by a maximum of 24 students.

The required commitment in terms of attendance corresponds to 75% of the lessons (attendance will last 14 months from the end of the lessons of the course attended).

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

The course will consist of four blocks of lessons covering the collection, organisation, management and visualisation of data and information. In particular, the lessons will focus on:

  • the collection of primary data (design, preparation and administration of on-line questionnaires);
  • the collection of secondary data (access to specific databases, public and/or subscribed by the University, and main procedures for data extraction);
  • the organisation and transformation of collected data;
  • the preparation of information dashboards.

RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY

The slides prepared by the lecturer and the supporting material (made available via the course Aulaweb and/or accessible online) will be used to prepare for the examination.
