The course starts with a general part that will give to the student the tools to a better comprehension of the environmental law and its sources. In the second part of the course concerns the environmental administrative procedures and the special environmental legislation. The link between the general and the special part will provide a complete knowledge in order to apply the notions learned also to concrete cases.
Provide critical analysis of principles, rules and current trends and concerns of European Union and international environmental law.
The course aims to provide the necessary tools in order to understand the characteristics of environmental law, with particular attention to the main principles (e.g.: "polluter pays principle", "precautionary principle", "prevention principle"), to the assessments discipline ( EIA, EIS etc) and environmental authorizations (IPPC, PAUR etc.) and to the special disciplines for protection and management of environmental resources.
English face-to-face lessons (if allowed by the sanitary provisions), otherwise online; in any case, with power point support, discussion of concrete cases and analysis of leading law cases.
- Introduction to the European and international Environmental law;
- main principles;
- EIA, EIS;
- environmental authorizations;
- waste management;
- pollution regulation (water, aitmosphere, electromagnetic, sound, hazardous substances);
- protection of the marine environment;
- environmental liability and remediation of contaminated sites.
The main materials will be provided by the teacher during the course therefore the attendance is recommended.
