To summarise them, let us use the words written by V. Olgyay in 1963, when the meaning of the term sustainability was very distant from what it is today: "The desirable procedure would be to work with the forces of nature, not against them, and to exploit their potential to create better living conditions. ... It is possible to achieve a very comfortable building at a much lower cost' through design choices that 'also' follow the goals of sustainability. The codification of what can be called 'sustainable design choices' can be formulated, simply and effectively, by applying the principle that a factory must adopt sustainable development goals. These objectives are now universally distinguished into environmental, economic and social. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The teaching aims to provide students with the technical and methodological knowledge that will allow them to carry out an architectural project up to the executive level based on two main pillars, the principles of sustainable design and the application of new methods of digitization of design processes. In particular, the intention is to focus attention on how to "exploit" the potential of digitization in a sustainable design process. It is therefore a question of analysing, evaluating and exploiting the potential in support of design, developing simulations capable of determining from an early stage the optimal strategies to maximize the achievement of specific objectives of the project, in terms of innovation and sustainability. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The course is structured in two modules, Sustainable Architectural Design and Executive Design in a BIM environment, in order to provide students with the following skills - in-depth knowledge of the meaning of climate change and consequent principles of sustainability and sustainable development in the construction sector; - in-depth knowledge of "traditional" and innovative technologies useful for achieving the environmental, social and economic objectives of sustainable development in the construction sector; - high capacity to understand, analyse and design materials, components, construction elements and entire buildings in which the achievement of sustainable development objectives becomes essential. In addition, topics concerning the application of sustainable design principles to the concept of 'digitisation of the envelope design' will be covered. In particular, the fundamentals for the digital translation of a sustainable project in a BIM (Building Information Modeling) environment will be illustrated. To this end, the following topics will be explored: - BIM as a tool for sustainable envelope design - BEM as a tool for sustainable envelope design - Use of the BIM tool and BEM for the simulation of the sustainable performance of the envelope in relation to the sustainable environmental and typological characteristics of a real site. Finally, topics concerning the development of the detailed/executive design of the envelope design proposals in the parametric environment will be covered. In particular, the fundamentals for the digital translation of detail designs in the BIM (Building Information Modeling) environment will be illustrated. To this end, the following topics will be explored: - The BIM as a tool for the executive design of the envelope and examples will be illustrated - The BEM (Building Energy Model) as a tool for the executive design of the envelope and good examples will be illustrated - Use of the BIM tool and BEM for the executive/detail design of the envelope in relation to the proposed sustainable design solutions. PREREQUISITES The following knowledge constitutes the necessary foundations for understanding the topics of the teaching: Architecture Engineering (first annual course) Architectural Representation, instruments and digital drawing It is also important to know how to use technical terminology relating to town planning and architecture. TEACHING METHODS Teaching activities include: - lectures on the topics indicated in the programme - workshop activities in which the students, divided into groups, develop under the guidance of the lecturers a sustainable architectural project of a building object that will be chosen each year on the basis of the construction characteristics, the intended use, the peculiarities of the building envelope that they wish to investigate in detail; the project will be the subject of the activities in the first and second modules of the course - seminars and technical visits to obtain direct feedback on the concepts and topics covered during the lectures and workshop activities. The topics are addressed by integrating the moments of sustainable design theory with those of their application and verification of design feasibility, guiding students along the path leading to the drafting of the sustainable architecture project at the executive project level. SYLLABUS/CONTENT The teaching programme is based on the topics developed in the main reference text (cf.TESTI/BIBLIOGRAFIA) RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY The main reference text is the following volume compiled as a general text on technical architecture, within which the topics indicated in PROGRAMME AND CONTENT can be found. Given the breadth of the topics of interest during the lectures and workshop activities, the texts that are considered most suitable as in-depth bibliographical references will be indicated. Exam Board RENATA MORBIDUCCI (President) VITTORIA BONINI ALBERTO MESSICO SALVATORE POLVERINO CLARA VITE (President Substitute) LESSONS LESSONS START https://corsi.unige.it/9914/p/studenti-orario Class schedule The timetable for this course is available here: Portale EasyAcademy EXAMS EXAM DESCRIPTION Admission to the examination is conditional on the teacher's acknowledgement of attendance, compliance with intermediate assignments and completion of the project developed during the workshop activities. The examination is the result of the assessments of the verification of learning of the topics covered during the lectures and the laboratory activities during the two modules of the course. ASSESSMENT METHODS The final paper of the workshop activities, prepared according to the indications provided during the workshop itself, must be handed in to the lecturer, in digital format, by the agreed deadline before the examination date. Evaluation of the final paper will be based on the completeness and correctness of the contents, consistency of the design choices with respect to the theoretical and methodological premises, critical synthesis of the contents, and communicative effectiveness. In the oral interview, students must demonstrate the ability to synthesise and expound, as well as the ability to critically re-elaborate and effectively use the knowledge acquired Exam schedule Data appello Orario Luogo Degree type Note Subject 23/01/2024 09:30 GENOVA Orale LA PROGETTAZIONE ESECUTIVA IN AMBIENTE BIM 06/02/2024 09:30 GENOVA Orale LA PROGETTAZIONE ESECUTIVA IN AMBIENTE BIM 04/06/2024 10:00 GENOVA Laboratorio LA PROGETTAZIONE ESECUTIVA IN AMBIENTE BIM 04/06/2024 10:00 GENOVA Orale LA PROGETTAZIONE ESECUTIVA IN AMBIENTE BIM 11/06/2024 09:30 GENOVA Orale LA PROGETTAZIONE ESECUTIVA IN AMBIENTE BIM 02/07/2024 10:00 GENOVA Laboratorio LA PROGETTAZIONE ESECUTIVA IN AMBIENTE BIM 02/07/2024 10:00 GENOVA Orale LA PROGETTAZIONE ESECUTIVA IN AMBIENTE BIM 16/07/2024 09:30 GENOVA Orale LA PROGETTAZIONE ESECUTIVA IN AMBIENTE BIM 11/09/2024 09:30 GENOVA Orale LA PROGETTAZIONE ESECUTIVA IN AMBIENTE BIM 11/09/2024 10:00 GENOVA Laboratorio LA PROGETTAZIONE ESECUTIVA IN AMBIENTE BIM 11/09/2024 10:00 GENOVA Orale LA PROGETTAZIONE ESECUTIVA IN AMBIENTE BIM 23/01/2024 09:30 GENOVA Orale LA PROGETTAZIONE SOSTENIBILE DELL'ARCHITETTURA 06/02/2024 09:30 GENOVA Orale LA PROGETTAZIONE SOSTENIBILE DELL'ARCHITETTURA 11/06/2024 09:30 GENOVA Orale LA PROGETTAZIONE SOSTENIBILE DELL'ARCHITETTURA 16/07/2024 09:30 GENOVA Orale LA PROGETTAZIONE SOSTENIBILE DELL'ARCHITETTURA 11/09/2024 09:30 GENOVA Orale LA PROGETTAZIONE SOSTENIBILE DELL'ARCHITETTURA
