AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES To supply a basic chemical culture, required to describe the thermodynamic and kinetic in the organic reactions of hydrocarbons and common functional groups. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The training activities proposed in the form of lectures and exercises, associated to the individual study, will allow the student to: understand the structure and the reactivity of coordination compounds; know the organic nomenclature and the different isomersisms; understand the reaction mechanisms of organic compounds; know the structure of lipids, carbohydrates and proteins; know the classification of polymeric materials and understand their structure; know the fundamentals of the main instrumental analytical methods and understand the results; discuss all the proposed activities with a scientific method and appropriate language. TEACHING METHODS Lectures and exercises in the classroom. The assessment of learning and operational skills during the course will take place through the monitoring carried out during the exercises. The transversal skills in terms of independence of judgment will be acquired through the classroom performance of the exercises to be carried out in a group. Working students and students with SLD certification, or other special certification, are advised to contact the teacher at the beginning of the course to agree about teaching and examination methods that, in respect to the objectives, take into account individual learning modalities. This is structured on 3 questions of equivalent weight for evaluation purposes. The first related to the reaction mechanisms, the second on the synthesis of an organic molecule in accordance with the reactions studied during the teaching module, the third on one of the monographic topics treated and the fourth on coordination compounds.and the third on one of the monographic topics treated. The detailed description of the modalities and the topics of examination are available in Aulaweb. There are no limitations to the number of sustainable tests in the two exam sessions. The final vote will be the average of the marks awarded in the two modules in which the teaching is divided. ASSESSMENT METHODS The cognitive interview with the student will allow: verify the ability to develop an electronic model for the structure of coordination compounds; evaluate knowledge of the reactivity of the coordination compounds; evaluate the knowledge of organic nomenclature and of different isomers; verify the ability to model the mechanisms of the organic reaction. evaluate the knowledge of the behavior of molecules of industrial interest such as saccharides, proteins, lipids and synthetic polymers; or description of an analytical methodology between UV-Vis spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, gas chromatography, mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance. The quality of the exhibition, the knowledge of the technical terminology, the methodological rigor and the ability to apply the scientific method will be comprehensive part of the evaluation.
