OVERVIEW
The oncology lessons involves teaching the diagnostic-therapeutic approach to the cancer patient with special reference to neoplasms of the gastro-enteric tract and neoplasms with the highest incidence in the general population.

- To Identify the most appropriate diagnostic pathways in patients with suspected malignancy
- To define the clinical and pathologic stage of the neoplasm
- Know the clinical and instrumental features of neoplasms of the gastro-enteric tract (esophagus, stomach, colorectum, pancreas, liver)
- Know the clinical and instrumental features of neoplasms with the highest incidence in the general population (lung, breast, prostate)
- Know the implications of nutrition in terms of risk/protection, interference with treatments in oncology

The role of nutrition as a risk or protective factor in oncology
Potential interactions between nutrition and anti-neoplastic therapies

ASSESSMENT METHODS
The verification of learning takes place through the final exam only, which aims to ascertain the actual acquisition by the student of the expected learning outcomes.
In order to pass the examination, thus reporting a grade of not less than 18/30, the student must demonstrate the following abilities:
-To Identify the most appropriate diagnostic pathways in patients with suspected malignancy
- To define the clinical and pathologic stage of the neoplasm
- Know the clinical and instrumental features of neoplasms of the gastro-enteric tract (esophagus, stomach, colorectum, pancreas, liver)
- Know the clinical and instrumental features of neoplasms with the highest incidence in the general population (lung, breast, prostate)
- Know the implications of nutrition in terms of risk/protection, interference with treatments in oncology
Contributing to the final grade expressed in thirtieths are:
- Ability to deal cross-culturally and critically with the required topics;
- Correctness, clarity, synthesis and fluency of exposition;
- Mastery of the subject matter;
- Adoption of appropriate terminology.
The grade of 30/30 with possible honors will be awarded when subject knowledge/skills are excellent.
