CODE 84632 ACADEMIC YEAR 2023/2024 CREDITS 12 cfu anno 1 SCIENZE DELL'ARCHITETTURA 8694 (L-17) - GENOVA LANGUAGE Italian TEACHING LOCATION GENOVA MODULES Questo insegnamento è composto da: TECHNOLOGICAL DESIGN OF GREEN ARCHITECTURE TECHNOLOGICAL DESIGN FOR OPEN SPACES TEACHING MATERIALS AULAWEB OVERVIEW The aim is to provide the tools for facing a design project of architecture and greening, considering technological and environmental aspects (as limited sources, pollution, etc.) and to qualitatively evaluate performances and environmental impacts of design choices, in relation to the specific characteristics of the site. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The course is made of two parts: Progettazione tecnologica del verde in architettura and Progettazione tecnologica per gli spazi aperti AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The aim is to provide the tools for facing a design project considering technological and environmental aspects (as limited sources, pollution, etc.) . The module “Progettazione tecnologica del verde in Architettura” (Technology design for the integration of vegetation in architecture) aims at deepening the relation between design and technology, through the study of systems for the integration of vegetation in architecture, the design of small structures and the use of natural elements for climate and environmental control. The aim is to provide the tools for facing a design project considering technological and environmental aspects (as limited sources, pollution, etc.). The module “Progettazione tecnologica per gli spazi verdi” (Technology design for open areas) aims at providing basic knowledge about the evolution of the environmental problem, considering all the aspects and the relation with territorial management and open areas design. The aim is to provide a method and the tools for a sustainable approach to design at urban and territorial scale. TEACHING METHODS The course includes interactive lectures, also involving experts. For students attending classes, a design exercise is also proposed, with the aim to deep the topics of the lectures. In order to favour the a critical view of the topics and active involvement of students, some activities as peer evaluation, debates and case studies research are also included. SYLLABUS/CONTENT Design and technology, green areas and green infrastructure, green roofs and vertical greening systems, economic and environmental sustainability, energy and environment, green areas as resource, biodiversity development. The main topic of the module module “Progettazione tecnologica del verde in Architettura” (Technology design for the integration of vegetation in architecture) are: vegetation and architecture, aesthetic aspects, design and technology, requirements and performances, green areas and green infrastructure for the control of microclimate and reduction of environmental and ecological imbalances, the choice of plant species considering the performances obtainable, green roofs and vertical greening systems, economic and environmental sustainability, building structures, energy and environment, analysis of small structures (wood, bamboo, steel, glass) and the use of natural elements for climate and environmental control, the relation between design, energy and environment in architecture. The main topic of the module module “Progettazione tecnologica per gli spazi verdi” (Technology design for open areas) are: ecological design and its historical evolution, environmental and microclimatic analysis for sustainable design, the concept of resilience and organic city, stormwater management and green areas, biodiversity development, ecological corridors, sustainable drainage systems (Suds). All these aspects are considered with theoretical and design perspective. RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY K.Perini (2013). Progettare il verde in città. Franco Angeli, Milano At the end of course slides will be available for the students. For each topic a specific bibliography will be provided as well. TEACHERS AND EXAM BOARD KATIA PERINI Ricevimento: for appointments katia.perini@unige.it Exam Board KATIA PERINI (President) ADRIANO MAGLIOCCO LESSONS LESSONS START 17-10-2016 Class schedule The timetable for this course is available here: Portale EasyAcademy EXAMS EXAM DESCRIPTION The final exam includes the evaluation of the students’ skills considering methodological, theoretical and practical knowledge of the topics of the course. For the students following the classes, the evaluation includes also the exercises developed during the course and all the activities (from 1 to 3 additional points) . ASSESSMENT METHODS Students attending classes The oral exam and the activities implemented during classes (e.g. debates) will evaluate the ability of the students to critically elaborate and relate the topics. The design exercise will allow verifying the abilities to apply the knowledge acquired and to qualitative evaluate the impact of design choices on the environment. Students not attending classes The oral exam will evaluate the ability of the students to critically elaborate and relate the topics. In addition, thorough specific examples and cases, the abilities to apply the knowledge acquired and to qualitative evaluate the impact of design choices on the environment will be verified. The evaluation takes into account also the quality of exposure and the correct use of specific terms.
