Statistical tools for evaluating the accuracy and precision of geospatial measurements and data are also provided. On the strict operational side, the teaching unit offers a view on modern navigation techniques, watchkeeping and related instruments and procedures, such as the radar, COLREGs, ship's routeing and ship's reporting systems. The operational activities will take place mostly in lab and bridge simulator environment. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The aim of the course is to provide knowledge and skills for the use of both the main electronic navigation systems for positioning and navigation, with particular attention to GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System), and electronic nautical charts (ENC), ECDIS (Electronic Chart Systems for Nautical Navigation) and GIS (Geographic Information Systems). The examination may be taken online in the cases provided for in the University Regulations. ASSESSMENT METHODS During the oral examination, the teacher will test the student's knowledge of the theoretical concepts and in addition, will evaluate the student's presentation and discussion of the personal application. The final grade will take into account the quality of the application carried out (processing and analysis techniques employed, strategies for solving any problems encountered), critical discussion of the results obtained and expository ability, as well as knowledge of the theoretical concepts. The quality of oral and written presentation will be evaluated, as it is considered preparatory to the students' future working life, enabling them to better acquire the ability to share ideas and work in groups.
