OVERVIEW

The course deals with Project Management for Yacht Production.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

This course provides students with the theory and basic concepts of project management used in both the industrial and nautical fields. During the course basic concepts of Microsoft Project Software will provided.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

In the first part theory and techniques of project management traditional and Agile will provided to understand the environment.

In the second part of the course, insights into the main project management tools such as planning, costing, monitoring and stakeholders’ management will be provided.

Practical cases will be developed during the course.

TEACHING METHODS

Theoretical lectures for about 16 hours and Practical lectures for about 16 hours.

Cases study for about 6 hours and Microsoft Project exercises 8 hours on second part.

 

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

First Part:

Introduction to the principles of project management. 
The aim of the first part is to provide the basic vocabulary, methods and tools for project management, according to a model inspired by a set of internationally recognized best practices. The course deals with predictive and agile approaches, dealing with the groups of processes opening, planning, execution, monitoring and closure, and the areas of knowledge integration, content, time, cost, quality, resources, communication, risks, stakeholders.

Second Part:

PM organization on Yacht Industry

Project Management and cost analysis for new product development and yacht construction

WBS – Planning – Project Documents

Baseline – Budgets and control of the project

Design Review and Stakeholders meetings

Introduction to Microsoft Project for timing planning

Shipyard Organizations - Conflict management – Soft Skills of a PM

Risk Management on Projects.

Managing Agile and decisions under pressure.

Cost Control and closing the project – Lesson Learned
