The course aims to provide first-year students with a common basic understanding of the principles and logics underlying business systems. In particular, it will delve into the nature and functions of enterprises, examined in their economic-business dimension as units of production of goods and services intended for market exchange.
The course aims to provide first-year students with a common basic knowledge of the principles and logics underlying business systems. By the end of the course, students will have acquired fundamental knowledge related to interpretative models designed to evaluate, according to various types of companies, the main internal issues and relationships with the environment. Additionally, students will learn the logic underlying the processes of determination and communication of economic and financial results of a company.
As a result, the student will be able to interpret and apply the most common models of business analysis, as well as tackle studies related to quantitative determination methodologies and subsequent analyses of financial statements. This includes in-depth exploration of evaluation processes connected to external corporate reporting.

The course includes lectures and practical exercises. The lectures are aimed at acquiring knowledge and technical language. The practical exercises are designed to develop the ability to apply the models and survey techniques presented during the course.
The course analyzes the fundamental principles that characterize business economics as a social science. Throughout the course, topics related to the functioning characteristics of firms, their structure, and the specific conditions that shape their institutional and managerial arrangements will be explored. In particular, after developing distinctive elements related to different classes of firms, the course introduces management areas through the analysis of major accounting methodologies and recording techniques to assess the values generated by individual operations.

The assessment of learning will be conducted through a written exam. This exam consists of practical and theoretical questions based on exercises, open-ended questions, and multiple-choice questions.
The final exam aims to verify that the student has understood and is capable of effectively communicating the nature of businesses and the logic behind business systems' operations. It also assesses the student's ability to apply the acquired knowledge to identify the values generated by the main business management operations.
