AIMS AND CONTENT AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The course provides students with the necessary knowledge to recognize and understand the most important gastro-intestinal diseases; in particular, the course will present the main signs and symptoms of gastro-intestinal tract and related glands, introducing topics related to clinical conditions such as achalasia, gastroesophageal reflux disease, H. pylori infection and peptic ulcer, celiac disease, viral hepatitis and liver cirrhosis, Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis. The student must be able to know the pathophysiological basis of the treated diseases and to remember signs and symptoms in order to quickly identify them and work with the doctor in synergy within the role of his competence. The knowledge of the appropriate terminology, diagnostic techniques and therapeutic bases of gastroenterological pathologies helps the doctor in the patients’ management and allows to plan, propose, where necessary, a correct physiotherapy treatment.
