AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The student must:

a. Achieve awareness of the habilitation issues related to neonatal age and preterm birth

b. Know the main enabling strategies aimed at promoting the neuro-behavioral development of the newborn through personalized family-centered assistance.

TEACHING METHODS

Frontal lessons. Interactive teaching. Practical exercises and simulations in small groups. Problem solving. Critical observation of films.

Students with SLD, disability or other special educational needs certification are strongly encouraged to contact the teachers at the beginning of the course to agree on teaching methods that, respecting the teaching objectives, take into account individual learning methods and provide suitable compensatory instruments.

1. Communication and the parent-infant relationship: bonding and the attachment process

2. Feto-neonatal brain and sensory development

3. Premature birth: role of the Rehabilitator in Neonatal Intensive Care

4. Neuro-behavioral evaluation: Sinactive theory of development

5. The evaluation of the spontaneous motility of the newborn: General Movements

6. The promotion of development: developmental care, facilitation of stability and support for the family (Family Centered Care)

7. The neuro-evolutionary follow-up

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

Oral exam or multiple choice learning test. In the case of tests, 15 questions will be proposed which correspond to 2 points for each correct answer.

The oral exam will focus on the topics covered during the lessons, a partial grade will be assigned. The final grade will be the result of the average of the partial grades of each discipline of the Integrated Course

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The exam will aim to assess the achievement of an adequate level of knowledge and the ability to critically analyze problems. The student will also have to demonstrate that he has acquired correct terminology and that he knows how to connect the topics of the various modules with each other.

Students with SLD or other regularly certified special educational needs will be able to agree on written or oral modalities with the teacher, by contacting the teachers at least 10 days before the exam. They can also take advantage of 30% additional time

FURTHER INFORMATION

Possibility of practical experience during the internship at the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Unit IRCCS Istituto G. Gaslini, rehabilitation facility where the teacher works.

When a student is a certified DSA, it is required to contact the Referring Teacher of the DISABILITY and DSA Commission for DINOGMI: Prof. N. Girtler (nicolagirtler@unige.it ) and evaluated the single case, he will send to the teachers the necessary directions both for  lessons development  and for modality of examination
