AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Course attendance and self-study will enable the student to:

  • Understand how impairments in motor control, in the main neurological disorders, relevant for rehabilitation, affect different motor functions.
  • Apply their knowledge and understanding to collect, analyze, and interpreter data gained during the physiotherapy functional assessment process
  • Identify the priorities of physiotherapeutic intervention in motor disorders based on prognostic indicators.
  • Design the therapeutic program for recovery/maintenance of motor function by applying the principles of best practice, according to evidence of its effectiveness.
  • Formulate the goals of therapeutic intervention being able to argue the clinical choice made.

TEACHING METHODS

Teaching course will consist of lectures for an amount of 20 hours (2 CFU) during which some theoretical knowledge will be presented and selected clinical cases will be presented.
In his/her personal work, the student should acquire basic knowledge and will be able to collect and interpret clinical data related to motor function. At the end of the lecture teacher will provide students with the slides used during the lessons and additional supporting materials to facilitate  formulation of any clarification/deepening questions.

Students with certified DSA, disability or other special educational needs are encouraged to contact lecturers at the beginning of the course to agree on teaching methods that, while respecting the teaching objectives, take into account individual learning patterns and provide suitable compensatory tools
