PATOLOGIA DELL'APPARATO LOCOMOTORE E REUMATOLOGIA
The module PATOLOGIA DELL'APPARATO LOCOMOTORE E REUMATOLOGIA develops a thorough understanding of the main diseases of the Locomotive Apparatus , in Trauma/Orthopaedics and Rheumatology; Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy intervenes to recover the disturbances of the locomotive system and compasses all the “ hands on ” manual techniques and exercise prescription for the relief or prevention of disorders of the musculoskeletal system.
The module PATOLOGIA DELL'APPARATO LOCOMOTORE E REUMATOLOGIA delivers what happens when injuries occur and how to treat and manage them. The unit aims to provide students with the knowledge of the patient's healing process, to define an appropriate rehabilitation action according to the biomedical and psycho-social model. As with all areas of physiotherapy, the assessment is very important; then, with manual therapy , exercise prescription and other therapies, musculoskeletal physiotherapy improves and prevents the disorders of the musculoskeletal system.
The aim of the class is to deliver the basic scientific knowledge to interpret the trauma and rheumatological recovery to improve the quality of life for the patient on a daily basis and to describe the right rehabilitation based on ICF model. To achieve this, it is important to evaluate and monitor the signs and symptoms of the patient, to know the main measurement rehabilitation scales and how to decline the rehabilitation treatment according to the patient's clinical history.
Basic knowledge acquired with the frequency of the lessons of the courses included in the study plan. The study plan is structured so as to allow a gradual acquisition of knowledge and skills in the main subjects under study.
The following basic knowledge is required to effectively address the teaching content: Knowledge of the foundations of Anatomy, Kinesiology and Pathology This knowledge is acquired and is the basis for understanding the topics of the course and supporting the exam The exam can be taken if all the exams of the 1st year have been passed. Pre-requisites: The exam is a prerequisite for the 2nd year Internship exam: Work-Integrated Learning also known as Clinical learning

The assessment method is explained during the lessons.
The exam consists of an oral interview based on the lectures and on the program, to evaluate knowledge and critical thinking of the student. The student have to prove his competence in scientific description of Orthopaedic Physiotherapy.
