AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

• Describe the objectives of the medical history, physical examination, and use of diagnostic instruments;
• Justify the use of history, physical examination, and diagnostic aids;
• Apply clinical reasoning by adopting a decision-making strategy with the preparation of the medical record;
• Manage social interactions with a collaborative attitude and constructive communication in a clinical setting;
• Demonstrate autonomy in decision-making, a collaborative attitude, the capacity to interact, and the ability to manage uncertainty.

TEACHING METHODS

Lectures and the assessment of clinical cases/simulations are used as educational methodologies. The first section of the course consists of lectures. The second portion of the course consists of evaluating clinical cases in groups using the methods presented and analyzed in the lectures.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Medical history:
1. presentation and start of the anamnestic dialogue
2. prospective pathological history
3. personal history
4. Past medical history
5. family history
6. anamnesis according to the diagnosis
7. final draft of the medical history
8. history of the "urgent patient"
9. patient history in outpatient or home care
Physical examination:
1. inspection
2. palpation
3. percussion
4. auscultation
Using clinical findings:
1. performing the physical examination
2. physical examination of urgent patient
3. physical examination of the outpatient or home patient
Reasoned use of diagnostic supports:
1. evaluation of indications
2. critical analysis of concrete gynecological and obstetric problems
3. interpretation of results
4. instrumental office exams
Clinical reasoning in general and focused on obstetrics and gynecology:
1. data collection and evaluation
2. data evaluation criteria
3. logic of diagnostic reasoning
