OVERVIEW

The course aims to promote the acquisition of knowledge and skills useful for psychological assessment.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course provides future psychologists with theoretical knowledge and practical skills for assessing psychological development. Additionally, this course allows students to learn how to use specific assessment tools (developmental and intelligence scales).

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the course, students are expected to:

- Be able to describe the different types of assessment tools
- Be able to use test batteries 
- Know how to approach to new tools useful for psychological evaluation

TEACHING METHODS

Frontal lesson and active learning methodologies.

Main topics:

- psychological assessment

- WISC-IV scale and WISC-V scale

- other assessment tools

Bonichini S. (2017). La valutazione psicologica dello sviluppo, metodi e strumenti. Carocci Editore, Roma. (tutto tranne l’ultima parte).

Two texts choosen by the student according to the teacher's indication.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The exam includes a written test, a practical test and a presentation.

The written test must be taken first and passing it is binding to continue the exam.

 

Students who have valid certification of physical or learning disabilities on file with the University and who wish to discuss possible accommodations or other circumstances regarding lectures, coursework and exams, should speak both with the instructor and with Professor Laura Traverso (laura.traverso@unige.it), the Department's disability liaison.

 

International Student are recommended to email the teacher at the beginning of the course, in order to organize teaching and assessment.

 

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The exam includes different methods in order to evaluate:

- the acquisition of knowledge

- the acquisition of skills with respect to the use of specific tools

- the acquisition of knowledge and skills useful for identifying techniques and tools, evaluating them and knowing how to use them
