To acquire the basic writing skills needed to draft a letter or a clinical chart. To communicate in English with patients and colleagues, and overcome cultural barriers AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The course aims to develop the abilities acquired in the English language and translation course. which involved comprehension of specific language through analysis of specialised articles of a psychological nature. However there will now be added emphasis on the student’s own production in English, both oral and written as well as analysis and comprehension of specialised publications and texts. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES To reach a level B2 of knowledge of the English language. To communicate in English with patients and colleagues on professional topics. TEACHING METHODS Interactive seminars, Lectures, Videos SYLLABUS/CONTENT The first part of the course will improve English language skills of the students through interactive seminars. The second part, an introduction to the clinic, will concern the barriers, not only linguistic, to effective dialogue with patients of different cultural backgrounds. The basics of technical writing will be highlighted: compilation of the medical record, preparation of a technical letter. Course participants will then enter a virtual clinical context, meet staff and patients, and familiarize themselves with the healthcare systems in Anglo-Saxon countries.
