What kind of abilities has a newborn got ? What allows children to learn to speak ? Is it possible to stimulate social skills ? Over time, in the field of the developmental and educational psychology, many knowledge about developmental change have been acquired. The study of this discipline is an essential help for those who want to support the development of the person in the space of life.
The course aims to provide a theoretical and methodological framework for the study of development processes and to provide knowledge about the processes and mechanisms underlying the psychological development and about the factors that influence it.
The course aims to impart updated knowledge in theoretical-empirical terms about the developmental age. In particular, the course will explore the main changes in the child's and adolescent's way of thinking, perceiving, relating, regulating emotions, and behaving, paying attention to the influence of exogenous and endogenous factors.
At the end of the course, students are expected to know the major developmental stages of human development and have reference theories for understanding changes in the individual across the life span. It is hoped that male and female students will come to master the vocabulary of developmental psychology for fruitful interdisciplinary discussion (essential in future work settings), having a body of knowledge useful to guide their work as professionals.
The course will alternate between lectures and interactive moments (group activities, individual activities).
The program includes: definition of developmental psychology, methodology of psychological research for the study of developmental age, human brain development, perceptual and motor development, cognitive development, communication development, social-emotional development, moral development, developmental elective contexts, plus in-depth studies related to the above areas.

Second semester
DEVELOPMENTAL AND EDUCATION PSYCHOLOGY
The examination includes a written test with multiple answers.
The tests that make up the exam are designed to ascertain (i) that useful knowledge has been acquired to describe what skills characterize us at different stages of life (e.g., what moral skills a preschooler possesses), how we change (e.g., how interpersonal skills develop), and what theories have been formulated with respect to why we change (e.g., different theories with respect to cognitive development) (ii) that technical language and communication skills appropriate to one's role have been acquired.
Female and male students who do not pass one appeal are advised not to show up for the next one in order to have adequate time to study the program more carefully.
