What allows children to learn to speak ? Is it possible to stimulate social skills ? Over time, in the field of the developmental and educational psychology, many knowledge about developmental change have been acquired. The study of this discipline is an essential help for those who want to support the development of the person in the space of life. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The course aims to provide a theoretical and methodological framework for the study of development processes and to provide knowledge about the processes and mechanisms underlying the psychological development and about the factors that influence it. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES At the end of the course students are requested to - know the main approaches to the study of psychological development, the methods of investigation, the changes at the somatic, motor, perceptual, linguistic, cognitive, emotional, social and moral levels that are typically observed during development with particular attention to childhood, theories formulated to explain the changes in the different domains - use the acquired knowledge to orient oneself in scenarios similar to those in which you will find yourself operating - use a specialized language and communication skills Depending on the course, students are expected to acquire knowledge and strategies concerning wellbeing in the educational context and school achievement. TEACHING METHODS Students will be encouraged to participate actively, and they can choose to do group activities. SYLLABUS/CONTENT The program includes: the definition of the discipline, the history of the discipline, the main theoretical approaches, methods of investigation, the knowledge gained up to now with respect to the psychological development throughout life (concerning the somatic and motor, the perceptual, the cognitive, the linguistic and communicative, the moral, the social and emotional domains), with particular attention to childhood. The corse 66906 includes also a part on school success and school achievement. RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY It is advised that students who are not proficient in Italian contact the teacher at the beginning of the course so that the bibliography can be defined. ASSESSMENT METHODS After this course, useful knowledge must be acquired to describe what skills characterize us in the various life stages (eg such as perceptual abilities of a newborn), how do we change (for example, how do we develop language and communication skills?), and what theories have been formulated with respect to why we change (for example, the different theories concerning the cognitive development). The student should have acquired the ability to use this knowledge to understand a real situation that may be proposed or to envisage how to act in it. Finally, students should use a specialized language. The written exam includes a majority of multiple choise questions. Oral exam is possible only when written exam is passed.
