OVERVIEW

The Developmental Psychopathology Lab provides an experiential complement to the theoretical part of the course, offering a space for active student participation through the discussion of clinical material related to children, adolescents, and their parents.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The workshop aims to introduce students to the essential and operational parameters of psychodiagnostic assessment of children and adolescents, from a psychodynamic perspective, within the theoretical framework of Developmental Psychopathology.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The Lab aims, through the presentation and discussion of clinical material, to demonstrate how a psychoanalytically trained psychologist works with parents, children, and adolescents during consultations and psychotherapy sessions.

Special attention will be given to understanding psychoanalytic theoretical concepts as applied to clinical practice and to the psychologist's mental framework during their work. Throughout the course, clinical material related to psychological consultations and psychotherapy with children and adolescents will be presented and discussed to illustrate the theoretical concepts previously learned and to encourage reflection on the psychologist's mental framework while working, as well as the challenges they face in the consultative and therapeutic process with parents, children, and adolescents.

TEACHING METHODS

Lectures will be followed by practical exercises in small groups and in plenary sessions to foster active and cooperative learning. Additionally, group assignments will be given after each lesson, which will be presented and discussed in class during the following session.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Throughout the course, clinical material related to psychological consultations and psychotherapy with children and adolescents will be presented and discussed to illustrate the theoretical concepts previously learned and to encourage reflection on the psychologist's mental framework while working, as well as the challenges they face in the consultative and therapeutic process with parents, children, and adolescents.
